What not to do on diwali?
This festival of lights is one of India's most important and widely celebrated festivals. It marks the triumph of good over evil and is filled with beautiful traditions, customs, and rituals.
However, as an outsider, it's important to be aware and respectful of certain things during this festive season.
- Don't burst crackers; light a diya instead and spread some light.
- Don't gift leather products; choose something more meaningful.
- Don't bring alcohol to a Diwali celebration; respect the customs.
- Keep your footwear outside the house.
- Rangoli is a traditional art form created with colorful powders, rice grains, or flower petals. It's considered disrespectful to step on it as it's believed to be a sacred symbol of welcoming guests into the home. So, avoid stepping on rangolis and admire their beauty from a distance.
