Are you looking for a simple and great snack that even little kids will love?
Look no further! I have a new take on the classic sandwich to come up with a new favorite snack with melty peanut butter and warm jelly!
Would you like to save this?
Its the delicious air fryer peanut butter sandwich!
It's the perfect combination of nutty, sweet, and crispy all in one bite.
Made with basic ingredients and ready in just minutes, this new favorite snack is not only tasty but also convenient.
While the classic peanut butter sandwich recipe does not require toasted bread, I have always preferred crispy bread instead of soft jelly sandwiches.
But ever since I got an air fryer, I’ve always made this snack with it.
Air frying gives it a golden brown and crispy texture that you can't achieve with traditional toasting methods.
My family loves Indian jam, but you can make it with the classic grape jelly or your favorite jelly.
The beauty of this recipe is that you can customize it to your liking.
Ingredients
- Slices of bread (Whole wheat bread or white bread)
- creamy Peanut butter
- Jelly or jam of your choice
- Vegan butter
Instructions
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 2 minutes.
Spread the peanut butter evenly on one slice of bread and top it with your desired amount of jelly or jam.
Place another slice of bread on top to make a sandwich.
Spread a thin layer of vegan butter on the outside of the sandwich, creating a crispy crust when cooked.
Carefully place the sandwich into the air fryer basket and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Remove from the air fryer and let it cool for a minute before serving.
Cut into smaller pieces for little hands to enjoy!
Tips
- Use creamy or chunky peanut butter depending on your preference.
- For an extra twist, add slices of banana or chopped nuts inside the sandwich before cooking.
- If you don't have an air fryer, you can also make this snack in a regular toaster by flipping the sandwich halfway through the cooking time.
- Experiment with different types of bread such as whole wheat, sourdough bread, or even cinnamon raisin for added flavor.
- Try variations with sunflower seed butter instead of PB
Recipe FAQ
Yes, you can substitute any nut butter for the peanut butter in this recipe.
If there are any leftovers (which is rare with this delicious snack), you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer or toaster for best results.
The air fryer gives the sandwich a unique texture, making it crispy on the outside and warm and gooey peanut butter on the inside. It's also a healthier alternative to traditional frying methods, as it uses less oil. Plus, it's quick and easy for busy parents or snack-time cravings.
