This is not a berry that you can easily buy from any grocery store and that's what makes it extra special.
I got them from the local farmer's market and drew inspiration from the dragon fruit juice recipe that I shared earlier last month.

What is mulberry?
Mulberry (Morus Nigra) is a fruit that belongs to the Moraceae family. It is native to warm temperate and subtropical regions of the world.
The most common type of mulberry is red, black, or white mulberries. For this recipe, I will use black mulberries.
Loaded with vitamin C and Iron, this fruit is often used to prepare wine, tea, or jelly but can also be dried and eaten as a snack.
Unlike juice recipes, jelly recipes need the berries to cook in boiling water and need a considerable amount of added sugar just like strawberry jam.

Ingredients
Mulberry: I used ripe black mulberry for this recipe. You can find mulberry in Asian grocery stores, or you can substitute it with other berries like blackberry, raspberry, or blueberry.
Summer is the best time for mulberry harvest and the perfect time to get the sweetest varieties. Be sure to wash them thoroughly to get rid of squished berries and pick the small green stem off the berries before using it.
Water: I used filtered water for this recipe, but you can use tap water if you wish.
Sugar: You can adjust the amount of sugar to your liking. If you want more tart juice, you can use less sugar.
Lemon juice: this is optional, I like to add a small amount of lemon juice to my mulberry juice to give it some acidity. You can skip this if you don't have any lemon on hand.

Instructions
First, wash the mulberries and remove any stems. Then, add the mulberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice to a blender.
And blend until smooth or until the sugar dissolves. Pour the juice into a glass and enjoy!
