About this recipe
This Pineapple Green Smoothie is a delicious way to start your morning AND get your dose of vitamins. Plus, this smoothie uses just 6 ingredients with no bananas!
I was able to make it extra special by using my own baby spinach leaves from my garden. Apart from the spinach, other ingredients are pretty basic like pineapple, apple, ginger, and mint leaves. It’s a good balance of sweet and sour ingredients.
You can also play around with other flavors that you like by adding your favorite fruits and veggies as long as you substitute the spinach.
Unlike other smoothies that I have tried, this one has a gingery flavor that will wake up your senses instantly. If you like to start your day with a smoothie, you should also check out some of my other recipes like watermelon pineapple smoothie and berry banana smoothie.
Ingredients note
- Fresh spinach leaves: Just like I mentioned before, use fresh leaves. Fresh baby spinach leaves are never in shortage during the summer. If it is not available, you could always go with the frozen variety too.
- Frozen pineapple: I used frozen pineapple for my smoothies, but fresh or canned slices are good too.
- Apple: This is optional. However, I made this spinach smoothie using apples instead of bananas. Substituting one banana for an apple provides the same smoothie consistency.
How to make this recipe
There is nothing easier than making a spinach and pineapple smoothie. Just put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
There is not much that can go wrong with it. Just be sure to thoroughly blend all ingredients and not leave any chunks 😉
Common questions
Yes, it’s perfectly fine to use organic kale leaves in place of spinach leaves to make this smoothie. Kale tends to have a stronger flavor than spinach. So be sure to use slightly less quantity.
Mint leaves relieve the itchy throat feeling that some people experience after consuming pineapple. It’s a good hack that lets you enjoy a tropical fruit like pineapple. Kids are especially vulnerable for this and mint leaves come to our rescue!
