This frozen okra in the air fryer recipe is a new invention that is made with few ingredients.
Frozen okra, a little bit of almond meal or tapioca flour/starch, salt, and spices make up the ingredients you need to cook frozen okra in the best way.
You can prepare this recipe with fresh okra too but frozen Okra is even better because they are easier to find they cook perfectly every time!
I did not use bread crumbs as you see in recipes for breaded okra, so this air fryer frozen okra recipe is Gluten-free, grain-free, and 100% Vegan.
It's one of my favorite air fryer recipes for its taste and simplicity.
So, no matter what your dietary restrictions are, you can enjoy this delicious and healthy air fryer okra recipe!
And, it's perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal.
Simply serve it with your favorite dipping sauce or with any main dish or with a side of dal tadka or spinach dal and you're good to go!
Ingredients note
Frozen okra: You can find frozen okra in most grocery stores. I like to buy bags of pre-cut okra because it saves me time and they are pre-washed.
If you can't find frozen okra, you can use fresh okra pods. Just be sure to cut them into small and even pieces so that they cook evenly.
Almond meal or tapioca flour: These ingredients help to make the okra crispy. If you don't have either of these on hand, you can use any other type of flour mixture or breadcrumbs.
Cornmeal is an excellent substitute if you are looking for other options.
Spices: I like to keep things simple and just use the basic spices: salt, red chili powder or cayenne pepper, turmeric powder, and amchur powder.
Feel free to get creative and add in any other spices like black pepper
Oil: You don't need much oil for this recipe. Just a light spray is all you need. I like to use avocado oil instead of coconut oil because it has a high smoke point and it's healthier than other options.

Instructions
Making Frozen Okra in the air fryer is super simple and only takes a few minutes. First, start by preheating your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Place the frozen okra pieces in a mixing bowl and add all the spices, almond meal, salt, and olive oil, and combine well.
Then, transfer the frozen okra mixture to the air fryer basket and spray a little oil.
Cook the okra for 15 minutes. At the halfway mark, shake your air fryer basket or flip with tongs and continue to cook the rest of the way until the okra pieces turn golden brown and crispy. Remove with tongs and serve hot.
Expert tips
- Make sure to shake or flip the okra at the halfway mark so that it cooks evenly.
