Snacks are not always popular for their nutrition, but what if you can get three times as much calcium as dairy milk from a snack? That is true with Sesame seeds snacks. Sesame seeds are not so uncommon in western or eastern cultures but recipes with sesame seeds vary widely.
In western cuisine, they are mostly sprinkled over bread or burger buns, whereas there is a special place for sesame in Indian cuisine. Apart from the Calcium, Sesame seeds can cool your body from within and reduce side-effects from spicy foods.
Sesame seeds bar (a.k.a Chikki in South India) is one of the easiest snacks you can make. It takes no baking and can be done within 15 minutes.
In India, sesame seed bars or balls (Laddu) is common during festivals. It is quite common to prepare them with sugar-caramel, but I have replaced common sugar with Jaggery and the results were amazing.
I included a link for Jaggery if you do not find it at your grocery store.

What is jaggery?
It is an organic sweetener made from date palms instead of common sugarcane. Jaggery brings a nutty and earthen flavor to the snack.
Check out the directions below and let me know if you like it. You will notice that I have used non-dairy milk as well, but that is optional. You can omit that part if you are going for a crunchy texture rather than a soft and chewy one.
