Ingredients

Instructions

  • Start by washing the moong dal in clean water 3-4 times.
  • Soak them in water overnight or for a minimum of 4 hours.
1 cup Moong dal/ Split Yellow lentils
  • Drain the water and place it on a kitchen towel or a cotton cloth and allow it to dry completely. (10-15 minutes)
  • Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees F.
  • In a mixing bowl, mix the dry moong dal with olive oil.
    2 teaspoon olive oil
  • Place the dal in the air fryer and roast for 10 minutes, occasionally stirring to ensure even cooking.
  • Once the dal is crispy and golden brown, remove it from the air fryer and toss it with spice powders.
Salt to taste, ½ teaspoon red chili powder, ½ teaspoon chaat masala, ½ teaspoon amchur Powder, ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
  • Spread it on a paper towel and let it cool down
  • That’s it! Serve warm or at room temperature as a snack or appetizer.

Notes

  • When roasting the moong dal, keep a close eye on it and frequently stir it to prevent burning.
  • Depending on your preferences and taste, you can customize the spices used in your moong dal namkeen.
  • Soaking the moong dal for a few hours before roasting will help to soften it and reduce cooking time.
  • Air fry timing may change according to your particular air fryer, so keep a close eye on your dal as it cooks.
  • Store this namkeen in an airtight container for longer shelf life.
  • The key to making the perfect roasted moong dal is to ensure that the dal is dry and crispy. Roasting it in an air fryer removes the moisture content and renders a light, crunchy texture.
  • You can skip the spices altogether and just sprinkle salt instead if you prefer a plain version.
