Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet potatoes or 4 cups cubed
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric if you desired
  • 2 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • salt to tatse

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F.
  • Cut the sweet potatoes into cubes. The size of the cubes doesn't matter too much as long as they are all about the same size so they cook evenly.
1 sweet potatoes or 4 cups cubed
  • Place them in water so that they won't brown and help to remove any excess starch.
  • Drain the sweet potatoes and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix together the sweet potatoes, oil, brown sugar, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and black pepper.
½ teaspoon black pepper, ¼ teaspoon red chili powder, ¼ teaspoon turmeric, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, salt to tatse, 2 tablespoon avocado oil
  • Toss everything together until the sweet potatoes are evenly coated.
  • Transfer the sweet potatoes to your air fryer basket, making sure they're not crowded. Cook for 8-10 minutes, or until they're crispy and tender.
  • make sure to shake them a few times during cooking.
  • That sums up the easy air fryer side dish. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

  • If you want your sweet potatoes to be extra crispy, cook them for a few minutes longer. Just keep an eye on them so they don't burn.
  • You can add your choice of seasonings to the sweet potatoes. I like to keep things simple with just salt, pepper, and red chili powder, but feel free to get creative! Garlic powder or cayenne pepper powder are a few options.
  • If you don't have an air fryer, you can also bake these sweet potato cubes in the oven. Just preheat your oven to 400F and spread them apart on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until they're tender and crispy.
  • You can choose any variety of sweet potatoes you like for this recipe. I prefer garnet sweet potatoes, but feel free to use whatever you have on hand.
  • Store the cooked sweet potato cubes in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four days. Reheat in the air fryer or oven before serving.
