Not just that, these cookies are made without all-purpose flour with no compromise in taste. Just watch my step by step video and you will see how easy it is to stay vegan. I am talking about soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies.

The best part of this cookie is Its vegan and you can eat the cookie dough raw without fear of salmonella. These make a wonderful treat to share with your friends and family around.Chewy Vegan Chocolate Chip CookiesThis is one recipe that I have made several times only to find an empty cookie jar the next day 🙂 Like I said, I avoided all-purpose flour and used whole wheat flour instead. And I used maple syrup, brown sugar combination instead of common sugar. Flax meal (in warm water) serves as the binder. That’s a snapshot of all the vegan replacements it takes to create soft and chewy cookies. You could also replace the flax meal with chia seeds to get the same wonderful texture. This is one recipe you don’t need too many vessels other than a mixing bowl and a spatula.

Chewy Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies 

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Yield: 20- 25 cookies

This is one recipe that I have made several times only to find an empty cookie jar the next day 🙂


  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup unrefined coconut oil
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp flax seed meal
  • 6 tbsp warm water
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened dark chocolate chips


  1. Preheat oven 35O F
  2. Place a parchment paper on cookie tray or use a greased pan.
  3. Mix flax meal and warm water in a small bowl and keep aside.
  4. In a big bowl, mix all the dry ingredients one by one.
  5. After you get an even mix, add the wet ingredients (Flax, maple syrup, coconut oil)
  6. Make tablespoon-size balls of dough and place them about 2 inches apart on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake until cookies are golden around the edges, but still soft in the center - About 10 - 15 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven, and let cool on baking sheet 1 to 2 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack, and let cool completely. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for upto a week.
