The procedure I have listed below is fairly easy because I use condensed milk. Condensed milk reduces cook time by a great deal and requires less sugar that you have to add separately. This time I didn’t much time to cook , for that reason I chose this method by using condensed milk. This will reduce the cooking time. For the coconuts, I used fresh grated ones instead of the frozen kind or coconut flakes. If you prefer a smoother texture, you can blend it instead of grating.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 7 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • Cardamom powder

Directions:

coconut burfiPlace a vessel over medium heat and mix the grated coconut and condensed milk together. Continually stir the mixture for at least 10 minutes. As it thickens further, add the milk and continue to stir. After about 10 more minutes, add ghee and continue to stir. After the ghee is absorbed, add cardamom powder and mix well.

Place the ghee in a baking tray and spread evenly and place it aside. As the mixture thickens, you will be able to bring it to the center of the pan (Like dough) and it is time to turn off the heat.  Now place the burfi, on the baking tray and let it cool for a while. Cut in to your desired shape and Coconut Burfi  ready to be served.

Yield: 20- 25 burfis
