Chutney Powder is a good substitute for Chutney or Sambar. It comes in handy when you do not have the time or ingredients to cook sambar or chutney. This powder is life saver to bachelors.
Its mixed with olive or coconut oil per your preference and goes very well with any dosa or idli.
- 1 cup Channa Dal (aka Bengal Gram)
- 1 cup Urad Dal
- 10 to 15 red chilies
- 20 curry leaves
- 1 Tsp Hing / Asafoetida powder
- Salt to taste
- 4 Tsp Sesame Seeds
Roast all of the above ingredients (Separately) in medium heat until golden in appearance. Let each ingredient cool down to room temperature. Blend each ingredient separately until you get a fine texture. Mix them in a large bowl and seal in an air tight container.
Shelf life outside the refrigerator is about 2-3 months!
A replacement for chutney cannot be easier than this!
